The Central Bank of Iraq Governor Receives the French Ambassador Accompanied by My Delegation from the French Business Sector

The Governor of CBI, H. E. Mr. Ali Mohsen al-Alag, received the French Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Patrick Doriel, and a French delegation, including French banks and companies in various sectors, in the presence of the CBI’s officials and TBI’s D-G.

His Excellency the governor discussed the investment opportunities in all sectors, especially after the security stability that Iraq has witnessed, Explaining the priorities, plans and initiatives that CBI is working on, in order to achieve general stability in prices through controlling the inflation rate, and supporting economic growth through financial initiatives to achieve the economic diversity.

H. E. referred to CBI’s role in expanding the financial inclusion and transitioning to electronic payment, in addition to digitalization and integration of the economy with the global economy and the financial system, as well as great success in transitioning the foreign exchange operations to the latest international practices and standards.

H.E also clarified the improvement of laws that facilitate the movement of investors' funds into and out of Iraq, emphasizing the endeavor to overcome the difficulties facing investment companies wishing to work in Iraq, within the scope of specialization.

For his part, His Excellency the French Ambassador stressed that French companies have an important and great opportunity to invest in Iraq and deal directly with the private sector, especially with the existence of laws that support investors and commercial projects. The French delegation also participated in the discussion and raised the most important questions that contribute to understanding the investment opportunities, whereas H. E. the governor and the present Iraqi officials in this meeting answered the questions delivered by the French delegation.
