Governor of the CBI receives Baroness Emma Nicholson

His Excellency the Governor of the CBI, Mr. Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif, received Her Excellency Baroness Emma Nicholson, and her accompanying delegation of businessmen.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of cooperation between the Iraqi banking sector and the Iraqi British Business Council.

His Excellency reviewed a number of reforms adopted by the Central Bank, including the electronic platform for external transfer, as well as launching a number of initiatives to support the Iraqi economy, stimulate the factual sector, and monitor exchange rates, in a way that reduces the gap between the official and market prices.

For her part, Her Excellency the Baroness expressed her interest in the reform steps in the banking sector, and the promising investment opportunities in Iraq, especially after the politically and economically stability the country witnessed.

Ms. Nicholson praised the new building of the Central Bank of Iraq, and the aesthetic and urban value that it will add to Baghdad, as well as the speed in its completion.
