Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq receives a delegation of the Egmont Group
His Excellency the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq received a delegation from the Egmont Group, to discuss the accession of the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Office to the group. During the meeting, aspects of bilateral cooperation between the Central Bank of Iraq and this group were discussed, after taking due diligence measures. His Excellency welcomed the guest delegation, stressing the Central Bank of Iraq's willingness to strengthen relations with international organizations concerned with combating money laundering and terrorist financing.His Excellency also stressed during the meeting that the Central Bank of Iraq pays great attention to combating all criminal activities and eliminating sources of money laundering, financing terrorism, and other financial crimes, looking forward to expanding the scope of international cooperation in the field of information exchange.
His Excellency added that the Central Bank has taken effective procedures and proactive measures to protect the banking sector and combat money laundering and terrorist financing. It is noteworthy that the Egmont Group is a global network working to enhance communication and interaction between financial intelligence units, named in accordance with the place of its first meeting in Brussels held in June 1995, and aims to create a forum for financial intelligence units around the world for the purpose of providing a support to the governments.
