CBI Governor participates in the closing meeting of the World Bank MissionThe Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mr. Mustafa Ghalib Mukheef, accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance representatives, participated in the closing meeting of the World Bank mission in Amman on Friday, May 20, 2022, to enhance support for the Iraqi financial sector reforms program. The mission reviewed the cooperation and support programs provided by the World Bank to the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance to reform the financial sector and enhance its role in financing economic development. The mission focused on methodologies for government bank reform, capacity building, payment system support, digital financial services, financial infrastructure, and measures to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. The mentioned parties agreed to continue cooperation to increase financial depth. The World Bank expressed its willingness to assist the relevant Iraqi authorities in building a roadmap for expanding the use of clean energy, stressing the importance of the Central Bank of Iraq's initiative to support financing solar energy systems with one trillion dinars.
