The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mr. Ali Mohsen Ismail, and his accompanying delegation representing Iraq participated in the forty-third meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group which was held in Tunis, Tunisia, from 1-5/4/2018.
The governor of the Central Bank of Iraq called during the meeting the Islamic Development Bank Group to expand its programs and initiatives in Iraq along with the circumstances and challenges and the serious effects caused by the terrorist gangs (Daesh).
For his part, the governor highlighted the development of the relationship with the group. The result of this development came from the efforts of the Iraqi Central Bank in the last year to invest 1.750 billion dollars in the Islamic Development Bank through Islamic instruments and also there is a tendency to increase this investment to three Billion dollars because of the Islamic Development Bank International classification in excellence as the international classification is (AAA).
The governor also urged the group to send teams to Iraq to benefit from the experience of this group in the design and management of projects and stimulate productive sectors.
He also stressed on the readiness of Iraq to host one of the next meetings as well as that Iraq is one of the members of the group and the governor of the Central Bank of Iraq is the representative of Iraq and a member of the Board of Governors.
