Main functions of the Directorate of Statistics and Research

1. Provide consultations to the Governor, the Board of Directors and all the Bank's directorates regarding issues  and developments, while strengthening them with recommendations that help to make sound decisions.
2. Follow-up macroeconomic developments, in all sectors and activities, and identify the main trends in it.
3. Prepare the economic model, enhance it by economic forecasting,and monitor the credibility of the model over time.
4. Preparation of original research, which responds to the problems of the Central Bank, and to local and international contemporary interests, and publish their results in the magazine of the bank. Enhance the various sources of information in a sophisticated library.
5. Contribute to the preparation of monetary policy and determine its direction, and how to use its quantitative and qualitative tools.
6. Follow-up development of the Central Bank's relations with the monetary, banking, financial, Arab and Islamic international institutions.
7. Collection and dissemination of data on the monetary, banking and financial system.
8. Follow up the development of the performance of financial institutions, the capital market, insurance, and funds.
9. Follow up the developments of the currency issued and traded, liquidity status, adequacy of bank capital, foreign reserves and capital, and prepare studies, research and reports related to them, and forecast trends in their developments.
10. Follow-up economic developments monetary and financial, local, Arab and international, and show the impact on the Iraqi economy.
11. Collect statistical data on economic sectors, classify them, analyze them, and draw conclusions and publish them for making them available to different institutions.
12. Preparing and disseminating statistics on foreign trade according to international standards, preparing and publishing the balance of payments, and related tables.
13. Follow up the price indices, interest rates, fluctuations, exchange rates, and oil prices.
14. Preparation of research, studies and economic reports and published on the website of the Central Bank of Iraq.
15. Submit technical proposals in the economic, financial, monetary and banking issues that received from various state agencies.
16. Other tasks assigned to the Directorate by the Governor or the Board of Directors.
